A Natural Crafted Christmas

Slowly we find ourselves at the start of December, the excitement and anticipation that builds is quite intoxicating and I absolutely love it all.  As a family we like to celebrate advent, we don’t go full steam ahead in November we start our preparations and add to them as the month progresses, its such a magical time.  Embracing Winter and all it has to offer, the same goes with when I start decorating our home for the holidays.  Things start to creep in slowly, I’m a less is more kind of girl, I like to focus on natural elements and always bring the outside in by foraging and crafting throughout Advent.

I also love finding unusual decorations from wonderful independent stores that I simply adore.  All these recommendations come from the heart, each piece is sustainable, hand crafted and natural, creating those pockets in your home that bring joy when sat curled up in a chair with a glass of something lovely to just stop and take it all in.  Christmas is one of those times where everything stops and you can do just that.

Baileys Home & Garden, TOAST, Rowen & Wren and RE Found Objects are some of my favourite places to go to find beautiful Christmas collections for the home.  This year I have been sent some rather lovely Sukima snowflake ornaments from NiMi Projects, these delicate snowflakes are hand crafted using sustainable Shina wood from Hokkaido In Japan.  Each has an intricate laser cut pattern that stands out against any backdrop and will be a fabulous addition to my collection alongside a beautiful mini vase I can add seasonal snippets right throughout the year.

I’m looking forward to this weekend where I will be going out with my enamel bucket and secateurs to forage ivy, birch and pine to create wreaths for my front and back door.  Once home I love nothing more than lighting candles putting the Christmas tunes on and weave, snip and bend my home made creations to my hearts content.

I hope you are doing something equally festive and heart warming too this weekend.
