Sleeping Under a Cloud with the Fine Bedding Company
One of the greatest pleasures in life is sleep, I’m rather partial to it and do it very well thank goodness. We have a good routine when it comes to bedtime, always have, the ritual of a warm soak in the tub, no technology in the bedroom and most nights being in bed at 10pm or just after results in 8 hours sleep. I’m not going to say I jump out of bed each morning full of the joys of Spring but I’m pretty sure this routine of ours has many benefits. To be honest I never want to get out of bed in the morning, I’m a bit of a sleepyhead especially at this time of year when its dark and a bit cold first thing, I do find it much easier in the warmer months to wake and ease into the day.
There is nothing nicer than a bedding refresh in January, to reassess the quality and functionality of your current duvet and pillows, depending on how old they are and if they have seen better days. We do seem to not pay as much attention to these things as we should, its quite remarkable how a simple pillow or duvet change can make such a huge difference. I do love having a very warm duvet, one thing I can’t stand is being cold with a wafer thin duvet, having cold toes is simply unpleasant. The only downside to having a warm duvet is that it means a high tog, so when the warmer weather does arrive I must admit to getting far too hot with arms and legs sticking out in all directions to keeping cool. This is where The Fine Bedding Company step in with their ingenious Spundown washable duvet that not only offers the ultimate in comfort and convenience but the all seasons choice comes in two parts that press stud together to create a 13.5 tog winter duvet. Amazing two duvets in one a 9 tog for Spring/Autumn and a 4.5 tog for Summer, so no more arm and leg sticking out for me ever again!
This soft luxurious duvet is like sleeping under a cloud and is making me very happy indeed. The beauty of this duvet and pillow range is that it can be washed in the comfort of your own home time after time whilst still retaining its quality wash after wash. The advanced Smartfil fibres are highly compressible, allowing the duvet to fit into a domestic washing machine. The fibres recover and return to their original plump shape after washing too which is always a worry when taking the plunge and freshening up your bedding as its such an investment for an essential item. The Spundown range is perfect for allergy sufferers too as it can be washed at 60°C the temperature that gets rid of pesky dust mites.
The Fine Bedding Company started back in 1912 as a small family company originally supplying large cruise liners before focusing on developing luxurious, solution based bedding products. Now a fourth generation British run business with over 100 years experience behind them their sole purpose is to simply keep creating better sustainable products for a better night’s sleep.
Their ethos and vision is that of a sustainable future, one that they strive for on a daily basis and runs deep through the heart of the business, to keep producing and improving their sustainable products, currently their microfiber duvet filling use 25% less polyester that similar competitors in the market, the majority of the cotton sourced is through Better Cotton Initiative sources. Of course alongside this they are invested in responsible sourcing, selecting suppliers carefully that invest in fair working conditions. Also they aim to keep reducing their environmental and carbon foot print across their operations. They are very proud to be the first filled bedding company in the UK to carry the prestigious Downpass seal meaning no live plucking or force feeding of the birds for the feather filled bedding which is all responsibly sourced. They are committed to compassionate manufacturing.
All of this passion and awareness of the environment makes me very happy, how many of us really think about where and how our duvets are made. I know that I will sleep even better knowing that I have chosen not only a luxurious soft and warm duvet but one that doesn’t have a large impact on our beautiful planet.
