A Picture Perfect Weekend in Southwold
When a chance to go for a weekend away by the Suffolk coast comes your way you grab it with both hands. That is exactly what we did, we didn’t care that it’s a five hour car journey or the weather forecast wasn’t so great. Just to be able to finally stay somewhere amazing even for two nights to recharge and rest was simply perfect. To wake up to quiet with a few singing seagulls was bliss, you couldn’t wake up anywhere as well styled and comfortable as where we were, I truly was in my element and as happy as can be. With a short stroll from the High Street filled with beautiful stores, bakeries and welcoming pubs, the sea front a stones throw away with its unspoilt pier and rows of pretty beach huts, Southwold is an absolute gem. You could feel your shoulders drop, the slower pace of life clear to see, everything you needed without leaving the town. We did take a jaunt down the road to Walberswick with it’s Scandinavian vibe, dotted with black wooden houses, feeling bleak and wild I simply loved it. It was blowing a gale and raining sideways but I didn’t care one little bit, we returned to the cottage to dry off and relax before enjoying a few drinks in a welcoming pub. Fish and chips for tea then curled up for the evening reading, chatting and enjoying each others company.
It was very hard to leave the next day, after fresh croissants and coffee we wandered to the sea to say our goodbyes before heading to Aldeburgh for lunch, bringing back happy memories of previous holidays when Ruby was small. We sat with our faces in the sun on the shingle beach breathing in the warm air, drinking it in before we had to depart, not wanting to go.
I’m not going to write a guide or tell you where to go, I simply wanted to document our weekend, to remind me how very lucky we are to be able to have these experiences and to live in these moments when they appear.

Ah, our happy place! We are currently renovating a cottage a few doors down from this one. I can’t wait to visit next week and breathe in the sea air. An absolute gem of a coast. Stunning photos
