Keeping Summer Alive

Trying to keep the summer vibe going when we are hurtling towards September at the rate of knots can sometimes get me in a little bit of a tizz.  I love Autumn and all that it brings but I don’t want to force it upon myself prematurely, I want to be able to take those golden moments in the warm sunshine and soak them up for all they are worth, next month will be here in a blink of an eye so I would like to be present in the now enjoying these precious days of August.

Its very easy to get caught up in the everyday hustle and bustle but it is rather nice to step back for a while and create a little bit of that holiday magic you had when you were away.  I have very kindly been sent a  beautiful hamper by Devon Holiday Cottages from Lyme Bay Holidays these seaside located holiday cottages are the just the perfect coastal escape any time of the year.  Being able to evoke holiday memories in your own home  is quite precious.

I always bring a little something back from our adventures, maybe some artwork or ceramics that always hold that wonder every time you use or look at them, its how our eclectic home evolves, filled with treasures from other places.

When I opened this beautiful hamper I instantly felt like I was on holiday, being able to wrap myself up it the soft throw, warming my hands on a warming mug to reminisce about our recent beach holiday was bliss.  Even the delicious smelling room sprays evoke the sense of being by the coast if you shut your eyes for a moment and breathe in the heady scent.  I simply love the idea of having holiday moments at home and now having all these lovely items to hand in this softly woven basket, transporting me to different locations when I want can’t be a bad thing can it?

Such a simple but effective thing to be able to recreate yourself with a little thought, why can’t we always have that feeling of being on holiday, taking those moment to relax and feel free from the everyday.   Even if its just filling the bathroom with the scent of the sea when taking a candlelit bath, or curling up on the sofa in a handcrafted throw to browse through your holiday photos or to plan your next break away.

I love nothing more than doing all of this, it makes you appreciate the little things in life rather than racing headlong into the future when you could be enjoy the right now.
