Tea & Toast by Atelier Ellis

Our kitchen is the heart of our home, it may not be the newest sparkliest of rooms but its knocks and scrapes make it a well loved space that we spend most of our time in.  The paintwork was in need of a refresh, the woodwork and radiator especially hadn’t had a lick of paint for over 10 years, I know!   Nothing else was really going to change as I like things as they are but I wanted a warm colour to highlight the natural rusticness of the space.

I didn’t need to decide on paint company as Atelier Ellis are my go to for all paint choices and have been for quite a few years now.  It was just choosing the colour, which isn’t an easy task Cassandra’s colour palettes are beautiful.  I kept going back to Tea and Toast, a warm tone that I thought would work very well in the kitchen.  I’m not afraid of using a slightly darker shade even if the room can get a bit dark, it adds to the overall feeling of cosiness.

Some may think its lazy to colour block but I love the overall effect, so the woodwork, radiator, walls and ceiling are all painted the same shade.  It pleases me no end to see it all blend so well and I’m very happy with the end result.  The tone changes throughout the day as the light moves across the room and it looks wonderful in the evening with subdued lighting and candles.

The only other thing I’ve updated is the blind on the sink window, adding a slubby linen roman blind to create a seamless flow, tying in the warm brown tones with my ceramic collection, antique wooden boards, linens and vintage pieces.  You don’t need to refresh a space by replacing everything with new, so there is no big reveal here, just a loved space that brings warmth to those who are in it.
