Devon in Pictures
We have just returned rested and refreshed from the most wonderful couple of weeks in Devon. To take time away exploring such a beautiful part of the UK was a treat. It was rather lovely returning after 20 years as I’d forgotten how very beautiful it is. The slower pace of life, the endless rolling fields and coastline that resembles the continent, we were blissed out. We woke to sunny mornings, pottered around small fishing villages, swam in green waters with stunning views, lazed on golden sands and truly didn’t want it to end.
The beach was our haven most days but we did venture a little further a field from the shores of North Sands and winding streets of Salcombe, feasting on baked goods from The Bake House, natural homewares from Chattels, beautiful dresses in Busby & Fox and fresh prawn baguettes for lunch from The Winking Prawn. Totnes is a lovely place to visit especially on Friday when there is a fabulous market, we lunched in The Bull Inn which comes highly recommended. Next door to the Bull is a beautiful lifestyle store Me and East where I bought a beautiful handcrafted ceramic teacup to enjoy my herbal tea once home.
Tropical gardens were wandered at Overbeck’s with its own micro climate and olive grove it is a truly special place, the views utterly breathtaking. Greenway the holiday home of Agatha Christie was a must for a family of murder mystery lovers, to stand in the boat house looking out onto the water was quite a moment.
We stayed in the most tranquil of campsites, small friendly and spotless, I would highly recommend Bolberry House Farm and will most certainly return. For now our hearts are full and memories cherished, we are so very lucky to be able to enjoy time away together and it will never be taken for granted.
