Autumn Wardrobe // My Style

It’s the Autumn Equinox the days are getting shorter as we gently move gracefully into this glorious season with it’s beautiful colour palette of russets and deep browns.  I like to reflect the season within my wardrobe too, I have talked about this before but it is true, I shop responsibly and seasonally.  I go through what I have and replace and replenish when its needed, adding a few new pieces with each new season building a core wardrobe that makes me happy.

I don’t buy on a whim either, I do my research and shop in stores that I know produce the best garments that will stand the test of time but never go out of fashion such as Toast, East by East West, Cos, Plumo and Arket.  It’s taken me a long time to find my style but now I know what I like and purchase accordingly.

I love dresses but I like to have ones that can be transitional, a dress that can be dressed up or down depending on the occasion but also can look good being layered up too, I like fine long sleeved tops to be worn as an under layer and leggings too (I hate tights, don’t even ask!).  I love knitted dresses that sit well, one of my new additions is a merino wool dress from Cos that feels amazing on.  I also have my eye on a merino wool roll neck by Arket that will make the perfect under layer, it is bright orange but would work wonderfully well with my Toast pin wheel dress that is new for this season.  It would also work well under any slouchy knit or needlecord shirt dress.

I like comfort, items that I can wear every day, nothing gets kept for best but I don’t over indulge, two or three dresses and knits that take me from one season into the next is enough.   Keeping to this principle you never have the dilemma of not knowing what to wear for the day when standing in front of a packed wardrobe.

These are some of the looks that have caught my eye this season, perfect silhouettes in my style, made from sustainable sources luxurious deep corduroy, tactile wool blends and beautiful drapey viscose crepe, its just a shame I can’t have all of them.
