Hosting My Very First Workshop

Today I’m going to do a little self promotion if you don’t mind.  I don’t usually like promoting me, its normally me shouting about others but not today.  A while ago I was asked by Arthur Swallows if I would like to host a workshop at their Ripley Decorative Home & Salvage Show, with a little thought I said yes.  This a new adventure for the Arthur Swallows Team along with myself as I’ve never done a workshop before this will be my very first, scary and exciting all at the same time.

The first of the season for the Decorative Home & Salvage show , Ripley is my favourite, mooching around beautifully curated stalls filled with the most wonderful things, I never come away empty handed.  Alongside the show their will be a programme of inspirational, interactive and hands on workshops mine included.  All three are tailored to those who love making a unique and stylish home.  Each ticket purchased gives you free entry to the event and a glass of complimentary fizz, what’s not to like about that!

There will be a talk and Q&A led by passionate antiques and interiors trader Matt Dixon from Tallboy Interiors about his adventures sourcing in the UK and around Europe, how to spot quality items when buying and how to mix eras and styles to create a unique living space.

Also decorative antiques dealer and floral creative Lucy Nugent from Brocante Decorative will be giving a hands on workshop showing you how to make a small table centrepiece using seasonal flowers for you to take home as well as giving you table styling ideas using decorative items to create a complete look, perfect for Summer entertaining.

Then there will be me, in my workshop I’m going to be demonstrating how to create a flat lay look to photograph for social media and give hints and tips on the basics of how to effectively post and engage with followers via instagram.

I create many a flatlay for clients, my instagram feed and my blog as you probably know.  They are quite fun to put together so I’m going to have a great time creating one with others at the workshop to see what we come up with.  Of course I’m thoroughly going to enjoy being hands on with fab bunch of people too, so hopefully if you are going to be near Ripley on Saturday 11th May go book a place by following this link so we can spend an hour having fun.
