Spring Wardrobe Refresh

I wrote a post last September about slow fashion and how I have conscientiously changed the way I think about clothes and recommended a few brands that I like to invest in.  The way I shop and feel about clothes hasn’t changed in 6 months but I thought I would create a Spring update.  I like to assess what I have in my wardrobe each season, evaluate what I have and haven’t been wearing, have a little clear out and add a few new key pieces that will take me through into the Summer months.  Many of the new pieces I will add are multifunctional and can be worn with layers which is perfect for this time of the year.

Finally in my 40’s I am coming to terms with my body shape, well most of the time, I do have the odd moment of doubt about how I look but it is what it is.  I like looking at what is current and finding a version that suits me.  You have to feel comfortable as well as having a cut that suits your frame.  I have found brands that work for me and they never disappoint in style and taste.

I like a garment to make me feel good, nothing too restricting but with a bit of shape that gives me my style.  I am quite taken with the current trend of jumpsuits that seem to be appearing in everyone’s collections this season.  I haven’t yet made the leap to try one as yet as I’m a dress kind of girl as I’m conscious about my legs and bottom but I may just may be tempted by a couple featured in this post by Cos and &OtherStories.

Shirt dresses on the other hand are so versatile, I was kindly gifted a beautifully cut, indigo linen shirt dress by LinenMe that I know will be worn and worn through this season and beyond for its sheer versatility.  It was also a nice surprise to find that LinenMe do clothing along with their well loved bedding and table linens of which I have many!

Fluid lines and soft moveable textures in beautiful muted colours are what I love the most about this seasons current looks, Arket are on point at the moment, clean lines and minimalist they have some swoonworthy items in store, I did pick up a stunning black lustrous viscose Kaftan dress when I was in London that will add a touch of glamour to my wardrobe.

Of course Toast are one of my go to brands, they never fail me, I don’t need to tell you about how marvellous they are and I have added a simple ditsy floral print dress to this seasons picks, its a joy to wear.  Along with their simple style this season I may try one of their summer jumpsuits for the Summer months.

Another investment piece I have made is the Brue dress by East by East West, crisp cotton in a relaxed cut.  I simply adore this brand for it’s suitable style and a strong garment to add to my capsule wardrobe this season.  Their S/S19 collection is rather splendid and it took me a while to choose the one for me this time as I wanted all of them!

Along with trusty saltwater slides and veja trainers I think I am set and ready for the coming seasons ahead, happy in the knowledge that I have chosen wisely and will feel good in myself and the clothes that I am wearing.
