Three Inspiring Interior Books
I simply adore Interior Books, I have piles of them all over the house, stacked on footstools, chairs, side tables and bedside tables. All close to hand when I need some inspiration or I want to escape to somewhere new and exciting for a while. I have many favourites that I go back to time and time again, they make me feel calm but also a little bit wanting as I want to live in many of the homes that are between the pages.
I had these three books on my Christmas and Birthday list and they certainly don’t disappoint. All very different from each other but with a connecting thread, the love and passion for interiors and creating a warm and welcoming home.
New English Interiors (at home with today’s creatives) Elizabeth Metcalfe
What I love about this book is that it’s not a how to, it features 22 houses belonging to some of England’s most exciting creatives, from interior designers, to artists and antique dealers. Each home is different from the next weaving the owners style and taste into each room but what all of them do have is colour, pattern and personality. The ever evolving English style will always endure and not succumb to trends. It is a feast for the eyes and so refreshing delving into an individual home in full and devouring the stories that come with it.
A Place in Scotland (Beautiful Scottish Interiors) Banjo Beale Photography Alexander Baxter
This is a beautiful book, similarly to New English Interiors this is purely about individual places but across Scotland and without a tartan wall or carpet in sight. Banjo Beale is a force of nature and I absolutely love that he has put this book together celebrating this new chapter in Scottish design. The craftsmanship and sustainable design throughout is evident but the warm inviting spaces between the pages are a feast for the eyes. This will become one of my go to books when I want to feel inspired and warm inside.
The Slow Down (For the Love of Home) Leanne Ford
Leanne Ford is an icon, I love everything about how she creates pared back magical interiors with an air of grace and imperfection at the same time. The Slow Down is compelling. Totally different from the books above, it is about creating one home with soul with a glimpse into how Leanne works. It’s a personal look at the home she has created over the last few years and the processes she followed by using a little imagination and originality, working with the bones that you inherit rather than ripping out and starting again. It is pure heaven.
