Clever Jewellery by Hepburn & Hughes
I like unique, something slightly out of the ordinary that you can’t buy on every high street in the land. I’m always looking for that little bit different be it things for my home, wardrobe or jewellery to lift the every day outfit to another level. I was so pleased when Zoe and Louise got in touch with me about their fabulous business Hepburn & Hughes, the jewellery that they create is most certainly very unique, one of a kind pieces that you will struggle to find anywhere else.
Hepburn & Hughes is a small family run business based in Kent and Derbyshire, the girls inherited jewellery stock from their Dad/Father in Law Kelvin who ran a similar business which started in the early 2000’s, building on the unique cufflinks and jewellery that he made which celebrated the wonders of the natural world and beyond. Launching Hepburn & Hughes in 2018 Zoe and Louise have carried on the tradition of unusual products that can be upcycled to create the most wonderful pieces of jewellery. By painstakingly spending hours scouring the internet and hunting through antique shops to source the most wonderful elements that make their pieces just that little bit extraordinary.
Their signature range of cufflinks use fragments of the Berlin Wall and parts of a reclaimed Spitfire fuselage as well as copper and oak from HMS Victory salvaged during her restoration. They also use gemstones, ancient fossils and meteorite to create individual pieces that are very out of this world along with many more upcycled elements. Broken or damaged pieces of Minton Willow Pattern or Clarice Cliff plates are turned into earrings, pendants and the most chunky silver rings that I simply adore. I can’t tell you how fabulous the Clarice Cliff ring is, the images definitely don’t do it justice, a ring that I will treasure for a very long time.
As I said at the beginning I like unique and Hepburn & Hughes have that in spades. I hope that you go and take a look at this very special business, either to treat yourself to something so very different or a gift for a loved one when doesn’t like the ordinary either.
