My Life Long Love of Linen
My love of linen never fades it is a constant and I wouldn’t be able to call my home ‘home’ without it. Linen makes any room instantly more welcoming, softening the edges and giving it a lived in look. So this post is an ode to the wonder that is linen.
I started looking around and realised I have some in every room, even the bathroom, I recently changed the blind to a rougher hewn linen making the space a little warmer tying in the reclaimed wood and hiding the imperfections of some of the things I don’t like about the space. Every window is adorned with linen curtains. I love heavy set curtains lined and full but they are very expensive. I have chosen instead to put linen panels in most rooms that drape on the floor but let in the natural light. Nothing beats a Summer’s morning watching them blow in the breeze.
Table and kitchen linens are a must, I always get my cloths from LinenMe who are the best of the best when it comes to linen. I love dressing the table with a cloth, don’t keep them for best. The beauty is that they get better every time you wash them. Napkins and tea towels are perfect too, soft durable and look wonderful stacked on a shelf.
Linen bedding is perfect, it keeps you cool in Summer and warm in Winter and looks better when you’ve slept in it, giving it that crumpled look. I have recently had my head turned by gingham, I have added a few new items over the last few months such as beautiful pillow cases and bedding from Piglet in Bed and napkins from Object Story. I think the colour choices I have made from botanical green, berry red and black all work well with the neutral tones of my home just giving it a little lift.
Simple additions of linen bring warmth and texture to any space even if it’s just a tea towel or two, it truly is an investment worth making.
