A Weekend By The Sea

A wonderful treat as a belated birthday present for Robert my husband.  He didn’t want any grand presents but did ask for a house by the sea.  A weekend spent in a cottage in Robin Hoods Bay was the best answer don’t you think?

We finished work on Friday afternoon, packed the car and drove to our weekend hideaway only an hour away from home.  Meandering up the narrow higgledy piggledy streets to find Storm Cottage was most fun, the front door opened out onto the view of the sea which was intoxicating.  The tiny three storied abode was charming, we fell a little bit in love with some of the details, the quietness and tranquillity that it provided too.  We wandered the streets, walked on the beach, had fish and chips outside, a few drinks in quirky pubs then snuggled back up in the warmth of the old walls of the cottage talking, laughing and reading.  A simple but perfect weekend, we didn’t want to leave.
