The Ritual of Skincare

I like simplicity when it comes to my skincare rituals.  I’m not one for fads or complicated lotions and potions I just like to look after my skin the best I can, whether it be my face, body or hands.  I think fresh air, drinking water and lots of sleep helps enormously but having a bit of nourishment to keep the wrinkles at bay and your skin feeling plump and smooth is worth the effort with your daily morning and evening routine.   I’ve been lucky enough to be introduced to some products new to me over the last few months and thought I would share my finds with you on here.

You may be familiar with the Kovac Family as I own one of their wonderful lights that hangs over my kitchen table, they have expanded their range to add two wonderful face creams.  VERDEN are the team behind VOTARY who produce beautiful cleansing facial oils, VERDEN focuses on the simplicity of bath, body and home.  Tisserand are well known for their ethos of natural power of essential oils for your wellbeing but their Natures Spa collection focuses on soaps, body lotions and hand creams.   Here’s a little bit more about each product.

Kovac Family

Barat Morning Cream is a warm wake up for your skin, with a sumptuous scent of hot Summer mornings with a hint of citrus and mentha.  It has anti ageing properties made using the immortelle flower also known as Helichrysum from the Greek words meaning sun and gold.  Packed with antioxidants, anti inflammatory, anti microbial and anti allergenic goodness, this flower has super powers for your skin.  It helps reduce fine lines and wrinkles but gives the skin that added glow, it helps with sun damage, scars, spots and evens out the skin tone.  The peppermint helps keep your pores clean and has a brightening effect on your skins appearance, by using mentha in the morning which has a cooling effect giving your skin a little energy boost.

Rovinj night cream sooths and smooths, it is rich and deeply moisturising giving your skins a restorative night’s sleep.  It has similar properties to the Barat morning cream but also uses fig fruit which helps dry skin as it prevent water loss, meaning your skin will stay hydrated for longer.  It also contains vitamin C which is full of anti oxidants which can heal damaged skin, it is also antimicrobial so will help with acne prone skin with the healing process.  The soothing scent of lavender will help aid sleep but will work through the night to protect you from environmental stressors keeping your skin clear and calm.

Both creams are made organically in Croatia both named after favourite spots in Northern Croatia.  As is custom with the Kovac Family packaging is very important, their aim is the be 100%s sustainable in the future but for now the jars are 90% recycled glass 60% is post consumer glass and the lids are more that 90% recycled plastic.

VERDEN

The Aborealist hand and body wash is a gentle effective wash for frequent use is perfectly placed by my kitchen sink, we like to keep our hands clean but nourished at the same time.  It is SLS free and enriched with pumpkin seed oil and glycerine, the wash has an intense and moody blend of woods and smoky greens my favourite scents.

The Body Balm in the same range is a nourishing and hydrating balm with a smooth velvety finish perfect to use after washing your hands to keep them in tip top condition.  Enriched with chia seed oil, shea butter and oat extract it will keep your skin nourished without drying out.

All the VERDEN products have 100% natural fragances, 98% natural products, 100% recyclable bottles and 100% vegan and cruelty free.

VERDEN in Danish means the world or the earth, it is a pure and simple brand focusing on bath, body and home, founders Charlotte Semler and Arabella Preston are also the team behind VOTARY skincare.  Their new venture is inspired by the focal role of nature in Charlotte’s Danish childhood memories.  Being surrounded by nature, water, landscape and fragrance as well as the endless summer light evoked such happiness that VERDEN was born.  Its roots directly link to nature and our place in it, breathing in air infused with natural fragrance to reconnect with happiness in every moment of self care.  To capture emotions and memories in scent and wellness being able to breathe and begin again.   These moments in our every day moments should be cherished and not rushed, having daily rituals to just be are so very important.

VOTARY

Alongside moisturising and strengthening your skin cleansing it too is quite important I do love face oils that nourish like the Rose Geranium and Apricot Cleansing oil by VOTARY.  With ingredients such as apricot oil and jojoba its a marvel at removing every trace of the day, including grime, environmental toxins, and make up, leaving your skin clean and happy.   Their Super Seed Nutrient Cream is also a brilliant way to prime sensitive skin for make up, its matte, smooth finish means your foundation doesn’t slide off which can be a problem, it also helps create a layered barrier between your face and the world which is a big bonus.  At Votary Arabella and Charlotte are passionate about the power of plant oils and botanical actives to give you healthy, dewy skin whatever your age.

Tisserand

The Nature’s Spa range by Tisserand feels grounded and balanced helping you gently cleanse mind, body and skin with their comforting hand and body soap.  Coconut oil and Shea butter enriched, its gentle formula with a fresh mellow aroma creates a delicate skin soothing foam to nourish and comfort the skin.  Their hand cream is no different it easily absorbs and leaves your hands soft and moisturised with added Aloe Vera and Vitamin E rich Sunflower Seed Oil it helps protect and strengthen the nails.  Perfect for when your tired hand have worked hard in the garden all day.

I hope that you take something positive away from this post and maybe try something new to revitalise and refresh your skin, letting nature do the work to enrich and sooth, creating a positive glow whatever skin type or age.
