The Bench

I love the simplicity and versatility of a well crafted bench.  They are a most useful but understated piece of furniture.

Placed in the hall for daily use as storage and sitting whilst putting your shoes on before you run out of the door or simply to display a vase full flowers and nothing else.    At the end of one’s bed if there is the space, stacked with cushions and blankets when the weather turns chill or piles of magazines and books for those lazy weekends .   A bench used instead of chairs around a kitchen table or outside in the garden either displaying pots or left empty for you to sit and while away an hour or so.
